OSARO’s researchers have developed an AI-powered system that automatically selects the optimal robot end-effector to maximize throughput in pick-and-place operations.

SAN FRANCISCO — October 21, 2025: OSARO®, a global leader in machine-learning-enabled robotics for high-volume fulfillment centers, has secured a patent for Computer-Automated End-Effector Selection for Robotic Manipulation. The patented system uses a model-predictive control algorithm and deep neural networks to dynamically choose the most effective robot end-effector for a given task—replacing or reconfiguring tools as needed to optimize performance.

By leveraging a predictive model of reward, the system evaluates each potential grasp for every available end-effector, using real-time data and historical performance to guide selection. This approach enables robots to continuously improve their tool-selection strategy and overall throughput without human intervention.
